First Chapter Meeting

May 2019 Update

Our June 5th Tech Talk is now open for registration. This is a hands-on exercise titled: "Analyzing Suspicious Emails" and will be held at NOVA Labs in Reston, VA (Metro and Parking Available). Our guest instructor is Brian Satira from R3doubt who has 10 years of experience as a threat hunter, threat intelligence analyst, and malware reverse engineer working with government and private sector organizations. In the past year, he has taught malware analysis courses at BSides Pittsburgh and BSides NOVA, and spoken about macOS security and malware at BloomCon and BSides Columbus. You can visit his blog: blog.r3doubt.io. Please click on "Event Calendar" above to register.

Thanks to Dr. Diane Murphy at Marymount University in Ballston for hosting our May meeting.  Terry Halverson from Samsung and former DoD/DoN CIO engaged with our members and discussed a variety of topics including 5G, IoT, innovation, leadership, supply chain and cybersecurity.  We appreciate his contribution to the local cybersecurity community!

Our next general session meetings thus far:

June 13: Richard Spires, CEO of Learning Tree to talk about cyber workforce
September 12: Ron Ross, NIST Fellow to give us an update on the 800 Series

As soon as we lock these down, we will post them on our event calendar and send out email notifications to our members so you can register.  Make sure you are registered as a member so you can get notified - our events fill up quickly. If you have any questions or have ideas on how we can improve your experience as a chapter member, please contact me at president@novaisc2chapter.org.  Thank you for your support.
