First Chapter Meeting

October 2019 Update

We have had a very busy month or two with lots of engaging activities for our members, sponsors and partners.  NIST Fellow Ron Ross was our September general session speaker at Marymount University in Ballston, followed by Jamie Williams from MITRE in October to talk about the ATT&CK framework.  The October general session was our first meeting at AWS in Herndon, and we had approximately 100 folks in attendance.  We thank Greg Herrman, Michael South and the rest of the AWS team for hosting, and look forward to having another event with them in 2020.  Towards the end of September, several NOVA chapter members attended a boat cruise organized by the DC chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance.  We will continue to cross promote our events with our November general session at Marymount representing our first official joint meeting.  Finally, the chapter attended the Freddie Mac Security Awareness event on October 14th as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM).  We were able to share information about student online safety programs created by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education.  Thanks to Hillary Lewis at Freddie and her team for organizing the event.  You can find out more about the Center's work below:
